Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy covers the information Hunter Roofing Co collects when you use this website, ring us, or have us come and look at your roof. It is written to be read rather than to cover us, so if anything here is unclear, ask.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us. There is no account to create on this site and nothing to sign up to.
- What you type into the enquiry form: your name, phone number, suburb, the type of roof you have, the type of work you are asking about, and whatever you write in the message.
- Anything you tell us when you ring or email, including details about your property.
- If we come and inspect your roof, the photographs and notes we take while we are there.
What we use it for
To answer your enquiry, arrange an inspection, prepare a quote, and do the work if you go ahead. That is the whole list.
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone for marketing.
Who else sees it
A few services sit between you and us, and it is fair that you know about them.
- The enquiry form is delivered by Web3Forms, which receives what you submit and relays it to our email address.
- Our email is hosted by a third-party provider, so enquiries sit in that provider's systems the same way any email does.
- This site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google can see your IP address. No other third-party assets are loaded.
- If we need a specialist for part of a job, such as a licensed asbestos removalist, we may pass on your contact details and the address so they can talk to you directly. We will tell you before we do.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia. If that matters to you, ring us instead of using the form.
How long we keep it and how it is held
Enquiries and quotes are kept while they are useful, which in practice means for as long as we might reasonably need to refer back to a job or a quote we gave you. Records connected to work we have actually carried out are kept longer, because there are tax and business reasons to.
We take reasonable steps to protect what we hold, but no system is perfect and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong in a way that puts your information at risk, we will tell you.
Seeing what we hold, and correcting it
Ask us and we will tell you what we have about you, and correct anything that is wrong. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless there is a legal or business reason we have to keep it, in which case we will tell you what and why.
There is no charge for asking, and you do not need a reason.
If you are not happy with how we handled it
Tell us first, using the contact details below. We would rather hear it and fix it.
If you are not satisfied with how we deal with it, you can take a privacy complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which is the independent regulator. Their contact details are on the OAIC website.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version goes on this page with a new date at the top. We will not change it quietly and backdate it.
