What Warners Bay roofs are dealing with

Common questions
Is lake salt as hard on a roof as ocean salt?
Less severe, but it is not nothing. Breaking surf puts salt into the air in a way a lake does not, so a Warners Bay roof is in a milder category than a Merewether or Stockton one. It still means matching your fasteners and brackets to your gutter and sheeting rather than treating it as an inland job.
We are adding a second storey. Should the whole roof be replaced?
Often it is worth doing, and the reason is the junction rather than the roof. Joining new sheeting to an old roof creates a flashed line that has to be right, and if the original roof is already near the end of its life you will be doing the whole thing again in a few years with that junction still in it. We will tell you honestly which situation yours is.
Do you do box gutters on houses?
Yes. Box gutters turn up on a lot of the architect-designed rebuilds around the lake, and they need more care than a normal gutter because they sit inside the building line. If yours overflows in heavy rain that is worth looking at properly rather than waiting.
How often should gutters be cleared in Warners Bay?
Twice a year on the tree-lined streets, and heading into storm season particularly. If you are on a block with gums directly overhead, gutter guard is usually the cheaper answer over time than paying someone to clear them.
