Who we are
Hunter Roofing Co is a roofing and roof plumbing business working across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the wider Hunter. Repairs, restorations, replacements, Colorbond roofing, guttering and roof plumbing, on houses and on commercial buildings.
The thing worth knowing about us is not how long we have been at it. It is how we answer the question nearly everyone actually rings with, which is some version of "is this roof worth saving". That question has a real answer on any given roof, it is knowable in about half an hour on site, and almost nobody will give it to you without a sales pitch attached. We would rather build the business on being the ones who do.
How a job runs
Four steps, and the first two are free. Nothing here is unusual, which is rather the point: this is what it should look like every time.
You call and tell us what it is doing
A stain, a drip, a quote for a roof you know is tired. You do not need to have worked out what the problem is before you ring. Working that out is our job.
We come and get on the roof
Not a look from the driveway. On the roof, and into the roof space to check the battens and sarking from underneath, because that is where the restore-or-replace answer actually lives.
You get photos and a written quote
Photographs of what we found, and the price in writing with what it covers. The inspection and the quote are free, and the photos are yours whether you use us or not.
The work happens as quoted
If something turns up that nobody could see until the roof was open, we stop and tell you before it becomes a cost, rather than adding it to the invoice afterwards.
What we will not do
Easier to be useful about than a list of things we are good at. These are the four that cost us work most often, and we would rather they were on the page than discovered halfway through a quote.
We will not price your roof over the phone
Anyone who gives you a firm number without seeing the roof is guessing, and the guess moves once they are standing on it. A range over the phone is fine and honest. A price is not.
We will not sell you work you do not need
Some of the roofs we get called to turn out to be fine, and if yours is one of them we will say so rather than finding something to quote. It costs us that job and it is the whole reason the next person rings us.
We will not coat over a roof that needs repairs
Spraying a coating onto unrepaired pointing and cracked tiles hides the problem for a year or two and then fails, taking your money with it. If a roof needs the work first, that is what we will quote.
We will say when replacement beats restoring
Restoration is the cheaper job and the one we would rather sell you. It is also the wrong answer on a roof whose battens have gone, and we would rather lose the restoration than do one that fails.
Where we work
Lake Macquarie and Newcastle are the home ground, and we cover the wider Hunter from Maitland through to Port Stephens. We are a service-area business rather than a shopfront, so there is nowhere to visit, but there is always someone to talk to.
